Enemies Of God

I was an enemy of God but I received Jesus and now I am reconciled with Him.

2 Corinthians 5:18: And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ*s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Few individuals understand the nature of their relationship with the Lord. Unbelievers do not understand that they are actually enemies of God and that they need to be reconciled with Him. Many believers do not understand that their flesh will always be an enemy of God. They do not understand that they need to be reconciled with Him every time they sin. Many believe falsely that they can be neutral toward God. There is no neutral ground. We are either for Him or against Him in every choice and decision.

Matthew 12:30: He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

James 4:4: Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Romans 8:7: Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

While we are enemies of God we are also our own enemies. Receiving Jesus is the only way to be reconciled with God. God never surrenders to us. Receiving Jesus is surrendering to Him.

Romans 5:1: Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Romans 5:10: For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Ephesians 2:14: For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Individuals used to say they were trying to find themselves. The way to find yourself is to receive Jesus and have peace with God.

Luke 15:17: And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father*s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

Annotated Bible Notes: when he came to himself He was not his true self while he lived in sin; he became conscious that he was made for other things.

Mark 5:15: And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

Albert Barnes* NT Commentary: Sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind. There could be no doubt of the reality of this miracle. The man had been well known. He had long dwelt among the tombs, an object of terror and alarm. To see him all at once peaceful, and calm, and rational, was proof that it was the power of God only that had done it.

J. Vernon McGee said that if we led all the patients in mental hospitals to Christ we could just about empty the places out. Many are in those places for no other reason than that they are enemies of God. It takes a special type of insanity to reject Christ and be an enemy of God.
